What to highlight in your resume
For each recent role or project, explain the product, your responsibility and the relevant stack. Distinguish production experience from tutorials and personal experiments. If you include impact, make it concrete: reduced build time, improved page performance, automated a manual process or supported a defined number of users. Keep the most relevant technologies close to the experience where you used them.
Skills worth including
- Application development
- APIs and integrations
- Testing and debugging
- Git and collaborative development
Keep only skills you can explain with a real example from work, training or a project.
Professional summary example
Software developer experienced in building and maintaining web applications with TypeScript, React and Node.js. Comfortable working across frontend and API layers, writing automated tests and shipping changes through Git-based workflows.
Use this as a structure, not as text to copy unchanged. Replace the role, experience, tools and goal with your own information.
Quick start
Start with a Software Developer base
We will add role-specific skill suggestions and keep any CV data you already entered. Nothing is invented about your employers, dates or experience.
You review every suggestion before sending the resume.
Experience bullet examples
- Built and maintained user-facing features in a TypeScript and React application.
- Implemented API integrations and handled validation, error states and data mapping.
- Added automated tests for critical flows and fixed regressions found during release testing.
If this is your first job
Personal and school projects count when you label them honestly. Include a short project description, the stack, what you personally built and a repository or demo link when it is appropriate to share.
What to avoid
Avoid rating yourself with vague percentages or claiming expertise in every technology you have touched. Separate strong production skills from tools you are currently learning.
Check your resume before sending it
- Match the vacancy. Put the most relevant real experience near the top.
- Check dates and contact details. Make sure the employer can reach you and your timeline is consistent.
- Keep claims defensible. Remove numbers, skills or responsibilities you could not explain in an interview.
- Check the PDF text. Copy text from the exported PDF into a plain editor to confirm it remains readable.
- Read it on mobile. Look for broken lines, awkward page breaks and sections that are hard to scan.
Turn it into your own resume
Start with your real experience, then tailor the wording to the job you want. You can build and export the resume in English directly in the CV builder.
